Library & Hub Policies

HUB Policies

Eating in the library is not allowed. Drinks are allowed in approved containers only, including locking travel mugs and plastic bottles with screw-on tops. Eating and drinking is permitted in dining areas, in staff and student lounges, and in private offices and conference rooms (Administrative Procedure No. III.B-02.h).

The MiraCosta College Library is committed to providing a welcoming environment that is conducive to a variety of study needs, which includes both group study and individual quiet study. If you have a concern about the noise level in the library, please see the librarian or library staff member on duty so that we may either address the noise issue or assist you in locating a quiet study area.

Oceanside Library & Information Hub 

There are ten student group study rooms in the Library & Information Hub.  All of the rooms are available through our online reservation system, located at http://miracosta.libcal.com/booking/studyrooms.  Here is a list of those rooms and their details:

Students may reserve rooms for up to two consecutive hours in a day.  Please check in to the Circulation Desk for your reservation, or with the Librarian on duty on the 1st floor for Room 1229.  Please have at least three of your group members present at your reservation time to be admitted to the room.  We hold room reservations for 10 minutes before the reservation is cancelled and open to other study groups.  

Those rooms with computers have a mouse and keyboard that are available to check out at the Circulation Desk. Laptops and HDMI cables are available for checkout at the Circulation Desk. Cell phone tripods are available for checkout as well. As per MiraCosta College Board Policy, food is not allowed in our study rooms. Drinks in approved containers are acceptable. Please keep voices to a normal level as these rooms are not sound-proof. 

San Elijo Library & Information Hub

There are two student group study rooms in the Library & Information Hub. All of the rooms are available through our online reservation system, located at http://miracosta.libcal.com/booking/SECHere is a list of those rooms and their details:

Community Learning Center

There is an open study space with a couch and comfortable chairs inside the Student Support Services room at the Community Learning Center.

Infants and minor children at MiraCosta Community College District locations shall be supervised by an adult in an area normally accessible to the public or in an area specifically approved by the Superintendent/President of the District for infants and minor children.

Under no circumstances are infants or minor children to be exposed to hazardous conditions or left unsupervised; nor are children to be allowed in areas where their presence will interfere with course activities or the normal work of the College (District Board Policy VIII.G-01.j).

The Library & Information Hubs abide by MiraCosta Board of Trustees and Administrative Policies concerning service animals in the Hub.
