Find Books/eBooks

Find Articles: Explore your topic in depth

  • The best place to get started searching for scholarly articles is in our EBSCOhost databases.  Try using the "Advanced Search" option.

Example search:

Box 1: Chicano or "Mexican-American"

AND Box 2: parenting or "child rearing"

Check the "Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals" box.

  • JSTOR is a another good database for this assignment; it includes only scholarly journals and you can limit the results to just sociology journals

Example search:

Box 1: Chicano or "Mexican-American"

AND Box 2: parenting or "child rearing"

Scroll down to the "NARROW BY DISCIPLINE AND/OR PUBLICATION TITLE" section and check the "Sociology" box.

  •  Springer eBooks: includes ebooks chapters and open access journal articles.

 Example search:

Box 1 ("with all of the words"): parenting

AND Box 2 ("with at least one of the words"): Chicano "Mexican-American"

--remember to uncheck "Include Preview-Only content" box

--also, click on "Article" under "Content Type"
